Clariant Launches New Product, Expands Stabilizer Production Capacity in China
To meet the growing global demand, Clariant has taken a strategic initiative to make significant advancements in its stabilizer product portfolio by combining expanded production capacity in China with innovative applications to enhance performance in artificial turf applications and the medical field.

The expansion aims to meet the growing demand for high-quality stabilizers in Asia and globally. The joint venture between Clariant and Beijing Tiangang Auxiliary Co., Ltd. has successfully completed the chemical commissioning of the second S-EED production line at its plant in Cangzhou, China. The new production line will primarily produce the multifunctional stabilizer Nylostab S-EED.
Enhance durability and color retention under intense ultraviolet exposure.
The rapid expansion of the upstream nylon industry in China is a key driver for the growing demand for high-end additives such as Nylostab S-EED. The added capacity will enable Clariant to better serve customers in the textile and engineering plastics industries in China and across the entire Asian market.
Mariano Suarez, Marketing Director of Clariant Additives, stated: "This expansion is a strategic investment in serving the fast-growing Asian high-performance stabilizer market. Our ongoing successful collaboration with Tiangang demonstrates our commitment to delivering new solutions to meet the evolving needs of customers in the region."
Nylostab S-EED has recently achieved remarkable success in the new application field of artificial turf in sports fields. This stabilizer provides excellent protection against light, heat, and oxidation, effectively addressing the key challenges faced by nylon artificial turf system manufacturers and end users. Nylostab S-EED enhances its durability and color retention under high-intensity UV exposure and frequent cleaning conditions, significantly extending the lifespan of polyamide artificial turf.
Mariano Suarez, Head of Marketing for Clariant Additives, explained: "Artificial turf manufacturers are increasingly seeking solutions that can withstand extreme weather conditions while maintaining aesthetics and performance. Our NylostabTM S-EED technology offers superior UV resistance and cleaning performance, ensuring that sports fields retain their vibrant appearance and structural integrity even under heavy foot traffic and prolonged sun exposure."
Nylostab S-EED is designed using a molecular recognition approach, exhibiting excellent solubility in nylon. Nylostab S-EED has a strong affinity with polyamide chains, thus providing strong resilience, which results in exceptional durability.
Phenol-free antioxidant for reducing polyolefin yellowing
Clariant has also launched AddWorks LXR 548, a phenol-free antioxidant solution specifically designed for polyolefin plastic applications, further enhancing its advancements in the field of polymer stabilization. This innovative stabilizer effectively reduces yellowing of polyolefin components and maintains excellent color stability even after gamma radiation and heat treatment.
Emilie Meddah, Market Manager Additives at Clariant, pointed out: "AddWorks LXR 548 addresses the critical need to eliminate phenolic antioxidants from sensitive applications such as medical devices and hygiene products. It provides excellent color protection during processing and maintains outstanding stability after sterilization, making it an ideal choice for polyolefin plastic components such as syringes, bottles, non-woven materials, and other parts where appearance and performance are essential."
The stabilizer exhibits high compatibility and high solubility across various polymer systems, along with low extractability and low toxicity, making it particularly suitable for applications with stringent regulatory requirements. As the global demand for medical-grade plastics continues to rise, AddWorks LXR 548 will help Clariant gain a larger market share in this high-value sector.
Through these strategic investments and product innovations, Clariant continues to strengthen its position as a leading specialty chemicals supplier, committed to enhancing the performance, sustainability, and value of the entire plastics industry. The company remains focused on developing solutions that address specific customer challenges, while striving to create more durable and energy-efficient end products.
