Since July, Huineng Holdings Group Inner Mongolia Zhuozheng Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. has launched a "100-day campaign" for its methanol project, methanol-acetic acid chain extension project, and new material project. Thousands of builders are working on the front lines of these projects. By increasing resource input, optimizing construction organization, and strengthening safety measures, they are making every effort to recover the construction schedule delayed due to weather conditions and are making an all-out push towards achieving the annual target tasks.
At the construction site of the Zhuozheng Coal Chemical Methanol Acetic Acid Extension Project, machines roar and welding sparks fly. Nearly 5,000 workers are striving on the front lines of construction, creating a bustling and busy scene. Recently, the number of construction personnel at the power station facilities has increased by more than 200, implementing a two-shift continuous operation. The construction time starts at 7 a.m. and continues until the early hours of the next day. Through this extraordinary investment of "non-stop human and machine efforts," the efficiency of equipment installation and other work has been greatly improved.

The power unit construction has additionally increased by 200 skilled workers, reaching over 600 people. A two-shift system is implemented, with the day shift mainly focusing on equipment installation and the night shift conducting testing and preparatory work to ensure seamless workflow transitions. Additionally, key equipment such as tower cranes and welding machines have been increased to ensure equipment availability. Currently, the main plant, chimney, and induced draft fan room have been topped out ahead of schedule, preparing for the main equipment installation of Boiler No. 1 to be completed in December.
It is understood that Zhuozheng Coal Chemical's "100-day campaign" started from the end of July and ended in early November. The construction units of each installation seized the golden construction period of the third quarter, scientifically racing against time and accelerating progress. The campaign covered two batches of 10 core installations across the entire plant, including gasification, power stations, air separation, and purification. Zhuozheng Coal Chemical established a leadership group led by the general manager, which facilitated rapid decision-making and problem-solving through weekly coordination meetings and daily briefings. They implemented optimized measures such as "parallel operations" and "cross operations" among the various installations and invested large amounts of manpower, machinery, and circulating materials to ensure progress. At the same time, they strictly adhered to safety standards and quality benchmarks to ensure "zero accidents," an acceptance rate of no less than 98% for inspections, 100% completion of key milestones, and an overall project timeline that is more than 5% ahead of the original control plan.
"With a 50% increase in personnel, we can ensure that there is one shift during the day and one shift at night. To meet the deadline, we must break the conventions. Currently, we need to transform the assembly line work on the same plane into parallel operations with one-time input. Different trades will work in an overlapping manner on the same plane, which will greatly save construction time."
The full-scale sprint of the "100-day campaign" will enable the Zhaozheng Coal Chemical Project to overcome various adverse factors encountered earlier and successfully complete the annual planned tasks. The overall progress of the project will be greatly advanced. This will not only create favorable conditions for the comprehensive installation of the project in 2026, but also ensure the project's completion and commissioning as scheduled in 2027.
After the completion of the project, carbon resources can be converted into intermediate products such as methanol and acetic acid, which are basic chemical raw materials, and further processed into high-end chemicals and new material products, greatly enhancing the added value of the products. This will play a significant role in optimizing the industrial structure of Ordos, building a modern industrial chain, and promoting economic development.
Inner Mongolia Zhuozheng Coal Chemical Co., Ltd.'s methanol and acetic acid chain extension optimization, deep processing, and comprehensive utilization project for producing high-end chemicals and new materials is located in the Nalin River Industrial Park, Sulige Economic Development Zone, Ushen Banner. The total investment is 59 billion yuan. The project produces 19 products, including methanol, acetic acid, vinyl acetate (VAC), ethanol, formaldehyde, polyoxymethylene (POM), polyglycolic acid (PGA), ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), dimethyl ether, methyl acetate, mixed alcohol, polyglycolic acid oligomers, sulfur, coal tar, upgraded coal, liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), naphtha, and special diesel. Through subsequent chain extension, chain supplementation, chain stabilization, and chain strengthening, more than 30 products can be produced, achieving high-end, diversified, and low-carbon development of the coal chemical project. The construction includes a 3 million tons/year raw coal pretreatment unit, a 1 million tons/year methanol unit, a 500,000 tons/year acetic acid unit, a 600,000 tons/year ethanol unit, a 350,000 tons/year methyl glycolate (MG) unit, a 200,000 tons/year polyglycolic acid (PGA) unit, a 60,000 tons/year polyoxymethylene (POM) unit, a liquefied natural gas (LNG) unit, and other supporting auxiliary projects.
