China's First Batch of L3 Autonomous Driving Models Granted Approval

Today (the 15th), the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially announced the approval of the first batch of L3 conditional autonomous driving vehicle permits in China.Two models specifically designed for urban congestion and highway segments will be launched in pilot trials in designated areas in Beijing and Chongqing.Marks a key step in the commercialization of L3 autonomous driving in China from the testing phase.

The reporter learned that the two models announced this time come from two automobile manufacturers, one in the south and one in the north.

• The pure electric sedan produced by this automobile company in Chongqing.Achieve autonomous driving with a maximum speed of 50 kilometers per hour within a single lane in congested highway and urban expressway environments.This feature is currently only available on certain roads in Chongqing.
• The electric sedan produced by this automobile company in Beijing.Capable of achieving autonomous driving at a maximum speed of 80 km/h within a single lane on highways and urban expressways.Currently, this feature is only available on certain roads in Beijing.

According to information from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology,The next step is for the two models to be tested for road traffic by the two operating entities in Chongqing and Beijing within the aforementioned areas.Relevant departments will strengthen the monitoring of vehicle operation and safety guarantees, continuously improve the access management and standard regulatory system for intelligent connected vehicles, and promote the high-quality development of China's intelligent connected new energy vehicle industry.
