Borealis and Borouge Launch Global Brand Recleo for Mechanical Recycling Polyolefins
Key Points
Recleo integrates post-industrial recycled (PIR) and post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials to create a multifunctional and easily accessible sustainable material combination.
The brand assists customers in complying with the ever-evolving regulatory requirements in the fields of transportation and packaging.
Relying on the global layout of Nordic Chemicals and Bolu Group, customers can easily access certified recycled materials.

On December 10, Specialized Plastic Insight learned that Borealis and Borouge officially launched a new global brand, Recleo, aimed at simplifying access to mechanically recycled polyolefins (PO) across various application areas. According to the press release, the Recleo product portfolio integrates post-industrial recycled materials (PIR), post-consumer recycled materials (PCR), and compounds, forming a cost-effective and multifunctional material solution suitable for multiple fields, including transportation, construction materials, home appliances, infrastructure, and consumer goods.
Recleo is a complement to Borcycle M series products—Borcycle M focuses on high-end mechanical recycling of polyolefins made from post-consumer waste, suitable for high-demand applications. Nordic Chemicals and Borouge Group stated that the two brands will work together to provide customized high-quality circular solutions to meet different customer needs.
Comply with the emerging regulatory requirements of the EU.
The Recleo series products are made from certified industrial post-consumer recycled (PIR) and post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic waste, helping customers reduce their carbon footprint and achieve ambitious sustainability goals in the transition to a circular economy. Additionally, this product range aligns with emerging EU regulations, such as the EU End-of-Life Vehicles Regulation (ELVR) and the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). Several products have obtained RecyClass certification and comply with the IATF 16949 quality management system standards.
Leveraging the deep polymer expertise and global network of Nordic Chemicals and Borouge Group, Recleo achieves global supply, ensuring product quality consistency and reliability in key markets, providing customers with stable supply assurance. The brand seamlessly integrates with the native polyolefin product portfolios of both companies, helping consumer goods enhance recycled content and improve circularity, while being compatible with various processing techniques such as film extrusion.
Global easy access
Borealis and Borouge have stated that the launch of Recleo highlights their shared commitment to reshaping core materials for sustainable living. By providing convenient access to recycled materials to global customers, the two companies are promoting the adoption of circular solutions and reducing the use of virgin materials. The launch of Recleo is emphasized by both enterprises as an important step to meet the growing market demand for recycled materials while ensuring that products meet high standards in terms of quality, reliability, and compliance with sustainability goals.
