Baihong Chemical's BDO project has made significant progress - the anhydride unit is set to start trial production in May!

Recently, the media tour for the 2025 "China Longevity Town · Quangang" Half Marathon kicked off on March 22. The first stop of the interview group was the Quangang Petrochemical Park, where they explored the new materials project of Fujian Baihong Chemical Co., Ltd. At the construction site, a massive liquefied gas low-temperature tank was already completed, and workers were installing pipes on the top of the tank.

As a key provincial project, this new materials project is divided into three phases, with a total investment of approximately 13.8 billion yuan. The market applications of the products cover three emerging industries: biodegradable materials, the photovoltaic industry, and automotive power batteries. The first phase involves an investment of about 5.8 billion yuan and is currently under construction, with the main projects being the annual production of 150,000 tons of maleic anhydride and 430,000 tons of carbonate series products.

The ongoing project is the green and intelligent technological transformation of Fujian Baihong Chemical New Materials, which includes production facilities for 474,000 tons/year of carbonate series products and 150,000 tons/year of anhydride products. This project will establish an internationally advanced digital workshop for new materials, meeting the requirements for automated production and the intelligent digital needs of downstream customers in areas such as testing and logistics. "Currently, the laboratory building and the central control building of the project are basically completed, and the main production facilities have been installed and are undergoing pipeline welding and other work," said Vice General Manager Lv Tao. The anhydride facility is expected to start trial production in May, while the carbonate combined facility is expected to begin trial production in July.

The construction content of the project includes: 18 main production units, namely, 300,000 tons/year of No. 1 butane pretreatment unit, 300,000 tons/year of No. 2 butane pretreatment unit, 150,000 tons/year of No. 1 maleic anhydride unit, 150,000 tons/year of No. 2 maleic anhydride unit, 100,000 tons/year of maleic acid unit, 150,000 tons/year of 1,4-butanediol unit (29,000 tons for self-use), 50,000 tons/year of PBS unit, 350,000 tons/year of syngas separation unit, 350,000 tons/year of acetic acid unit (72,000 tons for self-use), 100,000 tons/year of vinyl acetate unit, 150,000 tons/year of No. 1 EVA unit (batch process), 200,000 tons/year of No. 2 EVA unit (tubular process), 200,000 tons/year of CO2 recovery unit, 100,000 tons/year of vinyl carbonate unit, 140,000 tons/year of propylene carbonate unit (120,000 tons for self-use), 100,000 tons/year of dimethyl carbonate unit (entirely for self-use), 120,000 tons/year of ethyl methyl carbonate unit, and supporting recovery units for acetaldehyde and ethylene glycol, along with related supporting projects.
