ABB Robotics Launches OmniCore™ EyeMotion for Vision-Driven Autonomous Innovation
On September 23, ABB Robotics launched the OmniCore™ EyeMotion vision system, which can be equipped on all ABB robots with OmniCore. It can perceive the surrounding environment using any third-party camera or sensor and adapt in real-time even in complex application scenarios.
ABB Robotics Division Global President Massikan: "Over the past decade, we have continuously advanced AI vision technology, enabling robots to 'see' the world through a 3D perspective. However, this has previously relied on specialized high-end camera hardware. The launch of ABB's OmniCore EyeMotion vision system breaks this limitation, allowing various robots to not only 'see' but also 'understand' their surrounding environment in both 2D and 3D visual applications, significantly enhancing the autonomy and multifunctionality of robots."
The software features a simple and user-friendly web interface, supporting drag-and-drop configuration of sensors and cameras, allowing both professional and novice users to easily get started and quickly achieve image acquisition and recognition. It can be fully integrated with the ABB software suite and work in tandem with ABB's offline programming simulation software RobotStudio® for quick setup and deployment. Compared to custom solutions, this software can reduce debugging time by up to 90%.
The OmniCore EyeMotion vision system will bring revolution to robotic automation across numerous industries, covering object sorting and quality inspection applications in fields such as automotive, electronics manufacturing, logistics, packaging, and food and beverage.
In more complex application scenarios, the OmniCore EyeMotion vision system can also work with ABB's unique...Online automatic path planning technologyBy combining these elements, it is possible to autonomously plan and execute collision-free optimal paths in real-time and continuously, avoiding obstacles and dynamic objects without human intervention. This enhances autonomy in key tasks such as pick-and-place and reduces cycle time by 50%.
Automatic Collision-Free Path Planning Technology: Empowering the Future of Autonomous Multi-Functional Robots with Cutting-Edge Technology
The OmniCore EyeMotion vision system can enhance the sensing, perception, and visual reasoning capabilities of robots, marking another important milestone in the development of ABB's Autonomous Versatile Robot (AVR) technology.
ABB's next-generation robots will integrate vision, precision, speed, flexibility, and mobility, enabling autonomous planning and real-time execution of diverse tasks under the empowerment of generative AI, without the need for human intervention.
