7 tons/hour capacity breakthrough! Baolüte partners with Alba Indonesia to build a leading PET recycling line.

BoReTech Mar 27 06:10

In June 2023, Alba announced the commencement of construction of its PET bottle recycling plant at the Kendal Industrial Park in Central Java Province, Indonesia. As a leading food-grade recycled plastic facility in the region, the production line has successfully started operations.

Recently, PT Alba Tridi Plastics Recycling, also known as Alba Indonesia, has officially received a no objection letter (NOL) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), confirming that its recycling process meets the standards for recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) intended for food contact applications.

For this project, Baolvte has specifically developed and designed a PET bottle recycling and cleaning system with a processing capacity of 7 tons per hour. This system uses mature processing technology and is configured to ensure that the final rPET meets the downstream food-grade packaging quality requirements. This is also the largest single-line processing capacity PET bottle recycling and cleaning production line that Baolvte has designed for customers in Indonesia.

Polymax Tech provided a turnkey project for Alba Indonesia, including: washing line, sewage treatment system, air compressor system, soundproof room, dust collection system, installation and debugging, as well as European bottle and flake sorting machines.

In the Indonesian project, the bottle sources are generally pre-processed manually to remove labels, resulting in relatively clean materials. However, challenges arise from the mixing of clear bottles and frosted bottles. To address these characteristics, we have designed a cleaning process that accommodates both types, with enhanced features in the hot washing stage, including traditional hot washing, high-speed hot washing, and friction washing. These methods effectively remove residual contaminants and improve cleanliness. Through this series of enhanced treatments, we have achieved food-grade recycled bottle flakes, further increasing the product's added value and enhancing our customers' market competitiveness.

Faced with high standards, tight project timelines, and the challenges of managing engineering projects in a foreign country, the Baolvte team demonstrated exceptional professionalism and execution. Every step of the process was centered on customer needs, and they actively overcame cultural differences and communication challenges, working closely with local teams to earn high recognition from the client.

Alba Indonesia is a joint venture between German Alba Group and Indonesian plastic recycling company PT Tridi Oasis. The Alba Group, established in 1968, is one of the world's top ten environmental services and resource regeneration companies.

As a globally renowned environmental service company, Alba actively implements Indonesian policies and regulations. In 2019, the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry introduced Regulation No. 75/2019, which requires the manufacturing, food and beverage service, and retail sectors to submit comprehensive waste reduction plans. These plans aim to produce 100% recyclable plastic products by 2029 and reduce waste generated from product sales and packaging by 30%. In light of this regulation and the strengthening trend towards environmental protection, Alba is actively expanding into the Asian plastic recycling market.
In the future, as the global circular economy accelerates and the demand for sustainable packaging in the Southeast Asian market continues to grow, Polystar will further deepen its strategic cooperation with Alba to jointly explore more efficient recycled plastic solutions, contributing to the advancement of the regional green industry chain.
