RuiFeng High Material Discloses New Energy Material Progress: Black Phosphorus Material Starts Trial Operation in First Quarter, SBR Binder Meets Energy Storage Application

On February 13, Shandong Ruifeng Polymeric Material Co., Ltd. (referred to as Ruifeng High Material) disclosed the company's latest developments in the field of new energy materials during an investor relations activity.

Regarding the highly anticipated black phosphorus material, the Company’s subsidiary Ruifeng Yue Energy is advancing the low-cost industrialization of black phosphorus. Currently, a ton-scale pilot production facility has been constructed and has entered the commissioning phase, with the aim of commencing operations in the first quarter of 2026. As a promising anode material for batteries, black phosphorus boasts a theoretical specific capacity up to seven times that of graphite and exhibits high electronic conductivity, making it a potential key material for enhancing battery energy density and charging rates. The Company stated that, upon project commissioning, it will actively engage with downstream demand parties; however, it also cautioned that the project remains at the pilot stage, and significant uncertainties persist regarding large-scale production and market deployment.

In the battery binder sector, Ruifeng Gaocai is accelerating its layout of SBR battery binder products, leveraging its years of technical expertise in synthetic SBR. These products are currently primarily imported from Japan. Since 2024, the company has launched multiple grades of products that meet the requirements of 3C and energy storage applications. However, performance in certain high-end electric vehicle battery applications still lags behind Japanese products, and the company is concurrently advancing technical optimization and customer qualification efforts. Regarding production capacity, the company has sufficient capacity reserves by utilizing its existing, mature MBS production lines, eliminating the need for large-scale new construction.
