MGS Acquires Danish Knudsen Plast A/S, Strengthening Medical Injection Molding and Cleanroom Production Capacity

Plastmatch Global Digest 2026-02-25 14:19:11

Medical technology manufacturer MGS recently announced the acquisition of Denmark-based injection molding company Knudsen Plast A/S. The company, with over 40 years of industry experience, has long served medical device original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

This acquisition has enabled the contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) headquartered in Germantown, Wisconsin, to further expand its cleanroom capacity at its facilities in Denmark and Slovakia.

MGS provides medical product design and development, high-cavity mold manufacturing, automation solutions, and high-volume precision manufacturing services across 13 regions worldwide.

Mutual benefit

MGS CEO and Chairman Paul Manley said, "This acquisition is a win for MGS and Knudsen Plast's customers. MGS will benefit from Knudsen Plast's well-recognized technical expertise, comprehensive quality system, and strong commitment to innovation that improves lives. At the same time, Knudsen Plast's customers will benefit from MGS's vertically integrated solutions. Together, we will be better equipped to help leading global healthcare innovation companies accelerate their research and development, strengthen their supply chains, and confidently scale up production."

Knudsen Plast operates nearly one hundred injection molding machines across two facilities, with clamping forces ranging from 25 to 500 tons. According to the company, its Slovakian facility features an ISO Class 8 cleanroom, while its Danish facility houses Denmark’s largest ISO Class 7 cleanroom. Other core capabilities include product assembly, automated production, pad printing, and ultrasonic welding.

Continuously layout Danish companies

MGS shows continued interest in acquiring Danish companies.

In October 2023, MGS acquired the Danish mold manufacturer Winther Mould Technology A/S, a company with a 56-year history specializing in design for manufacturability, mold design and manufacturing, and testing and validation services.

In June of the same year, MGS also acquired Technolution, a company providing R&D, regulatory compliance, quality, and project management services to the medical technology and pharmaceutical industries.

Currently, MGS has over 1,600 employees in the United States, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Belgium, Mexico, and Costa Rica.
