China National Petroleum Jilin Petrochemical Successfully Starts Up 240,000 Tons/Year Bisphenol A Unit
On May 19, Jilin Petrochemical’s 240,000-ton-per-year bisphenol A unit was successfully started up on the first attempt and stably produced 933 tons of qualified product, with purity exceeding 99.95%. The product can meet the stringent raw material requirements of various downstream users, including those producing optical-grade polycarbonate. This marks a key step for the company in extending its chemical industry chain and promoting transformation and upgrading.
This unit is a key project in Jilin Petrochemical’s refining and chemical transformation and upgrading initiative, and it is also the first bisphenol A unit of its kind under PetroChina. After being put into operation, it will be of great strategic significance for further improving Jilin Petrochemical’s “propylene–phenol/acetone–bisphenol A” industrial chain and accelerating the company’s transformation from a fuel-oriented business to one focused on chemical products and organic materials. It will also play a critical bridging role in PetroChina’s overall integrated refining and chemical.
During the startup of the unit, Jilin Petrochemical strictly adhered to the principle of “people following the material flow,” fully implemented the mechanisms for hierarchical risk control and hidden hazard investigation and rectification, and rigorously enforced work permits, process discipline, and operating standards. From feeding in on May 12 at 9:00 a.m. to the successful production of qualified products on the 16th, the unit took only four days, fully demonstrating Jilin Petrochemical’s strong capabilities in the construction, commissioning, and startup of large-scale chemical units, and injecting new momentum into the company’s high-quality development.
