"Budget" Model Y Launched in US, AWD Configuration Simplified
On February 3rd, Tesla launched a new all-wheel drive (AWD) version of the Model Y in the US market, priced at $41,990 (approximately RMB 292,000). Concurrently, they adjusted the model naming system, discontinued the "Standard" designation, and renamed the original Standard version to rear-wheel drive (RWD).

It is reported that the Model YAWD is positioned between the Model Y RWD and the Premium series. This car features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, with a 0-60mph acceleration reduced to 4.6 seconds compared to the RWD version. The EPA estimated range is 473 kilometers, using the same 69kWh basic battery. The range is slightly lower than the RWD basic version's 516 kilometers, and it is priced $2000 more than the RWD basic version.

Compared to the Premium series, this vehicle's configuration is significantly streamlined. Firstly, it comes with a 69kWh base battery. In terms of exterior features, the vehicle is equipped with 18-inch steel wheels, basic LED headlights without adaptive functionality, and manually folding side mirrors. The interior features a 7-speaker audio system, front heated seats upholstered in a combination of artificial leather and fabric, and a manually folding rear seat without a touchscreen. The roof is fabric-covered. In contrast, the Premium series boasts 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels, adaptive integrated LED lighting, a 15-speaker audio system with a subwoofer, front and rear heated seats upholstered in full artificial leather (front seats also with ventilation), power-folding rear seats with an 8-inch touchscreen, and a panoramic glass roof, among other features. The price difference between the two models is $8,000.

With the addition of the new all-wheel-drive version, the Tesla Model Y in the US market now includes 5 versions in total.
Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) - $39,990 (approximately 278,000 RMB at current exchange rate)
Model Y All-Wheel Drive (AWD) - $41,990 (approximately ¥292,000 RMB at current exchange rate)
Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive - $44,990 (approximately 313,000 RMB at current exchange rates)
Model Y Premium All-Wheel Drive - $48,990 (approximately ¥341,000 CNY at current exchange rate)
Model Y Performance All-Wheel Drive: $57,490 (approximately RMB 400,000 at current exchange rate)
This new car launch further refines the Model Y product line, offering consumers a cost-effective all-wheel-drive option without needing to purchase the full premium suite, thus filling a gap in the model's pricing and performance range.
