BASF Launches New Generation Closed-Cell Spray Polyurethane Foam Based on Recycled and Bio-Based Raw Materials
On December 12, 2025, BASF announced the launch of the new generation closed-cell spray polyurethane foam WALLTITE® RSB, further expanding its spray polyurethane foam (SPF) product line. In response to the growing market demand for sustainable building materials, WALLTITE® RSB combines industry-leading performance with recycled and renewable materials, significantly reducing the overall carbon footprint of the product.

BASF has developed the closed-cell spray polyurethane foam WALLTITE® RSB using its patented resin formulation, which includes both recycled and bio-based raw materials. The resulting spray foam insulation solution helps customers achieve a green transition and offers transparent, third-party verified environmental benefits, including reduced embedded carbon emissions.
Nancy Houle, Director of BASF North America's Spray Polyurethane Business, said: "We hope to create dual added value for our customers by providing high-performance and sustainable solutions. WALLTITE® RSB supports green building projects through two key advantages: it can enhance the energy efficiency of buildings throughout their lifecycle and reduce embodied carbon emissions from the outset of construction."
WALLTITE® RSB's qualifications include the ongoing application for the USDA BioPreferred® program certification and UL Solutions' verification of its recycled and bio-based components. Additionally, the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) provided by the manufacturer confirms that this product can significantly reduce embodied carbon emissions compared to traditional formulations. These certifications make WALLTITE® RSB an ideal choice for projects pursuing LEED® certification, meeting EPA's prioritization recommendations, or complying with low-carbon building requirements in both public and private sectors.
