The Tupperware story begins in the jazzy 1940s. At that time, Earl S. Tupper, a chemist and one of the first users of polyethylene in the household sector, founded the "Tupper Plastic Company" and launched his "wonder bowl" in 1946 as one of the first products. Initially, Tupperware products were sold in department stores, hardware stores, and other shops. However, it soon became clear that retailers could not explain the airtight and waterproof safety closure properly. The advantages of a practical demonstration were recognized by a woman who came into contact with Tupperware products in the second half of the 1940s: Brownie Wise. In 1948, she began presenting Tupperware products using a method that offered various advantages: on one hand, practical demonstrations in a private home could show and explain the many ideas behind the products to buyers. On the other hand, inviting various guests also offered different sales opportunities. This new sales method quickly became known as the Tupperware party. It still forms the basis of all Tupperware sales activities today. The popularity of Tupperware® grew, and the Tupperparty® had a significant impact on society. Overnight, women gained an incredible opportunity to achieve a certain degree of financial and personal independence. A novelty in the 1950s and precisely at the right moment, as the second wave of the women's movement was just beginning in the US.
