We cover our food with plastic wrap or store it in plastic containers. Even when you think about it, we wear clothes that contain such artificial fibers. Not to mention that plastic debit and credit cards are now an indispensable part of our shopping. Plastic turns out to be a product with many applications, which can be listed for a long time. It even finds its application in surgical instruments, and that alone speaks of the wide range of its mass use. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to how quality it is and whether it is harmful to health. In this regard, the awareness and concern of the customer as the end consumer comes to the forefront. There are certain standards that plastic food packaging must meet, both according to European directives and in addition to them, there are many local regulations, and consumers are the ones who can signal if they suspect that these regulations have not been followed. If they notice that there are no required symbols or that there is a problem with storage, it is their task to inform the relevant authorities about the presence of incorrect traders. Although it is not a widespread practice, which is positive in this case, there are still merchants who try to profit through the use of incorrect and even insidious actions. In general, however, when plastic food packaging for both reusable and single-use is made qualitatively, and all necessary requirements are met, they undoubtedly do not pose a danger to health, and when consumers want to be informed, they are aware of what they should look out for and what they should pay attention to. How harmful are they to health and the environment? It also depends on people to protect the environment. Even if manufacturers produce packaging that is suitable for recycling, it depends on the end consumer to ensure that they end up in the designated place for that. This is why waste separation is so important – as the protection of the environment and care for it inevitably reflect on our health and quality of life. When we take care of nature, it also takes care of us. Relying solely on having convenience at home and outdoors, we cannot expect that nature will endure such a pace for long. On the contrary – it is our duty to respond with the same kindness that it shows to us.
