Stuurgroep PVC & Ketenbeheer

What is the Stuurgroep PVC & Ketenbeheer? In early 1989, the manufacturers of the raw material PVC together with the main processors of PVC in the Netherlands established the Stuurgroep PVC & Ketenbeheer. Their goal was to develop a program aimed at continuously reducing the environmental burden throughout the life cycle of PVC and PVC products (which includes production, processing, use, reuse, and disposal). In addition, the aim was to provide information on environmental, health, and safety aspects of PVC on behalf of the sector. The Stuurgroep PVC & Ketenbeheer is a member of the Federation of the Dutch Rubber and Plastic Industry in Leidschendam and is affiliated with VinylPlus. What is the goal of the Stuurgroep PVC & Ketenbeheer? - To use PVC as sustainably as possible by: - Reducing air and water pollution; - Reprocessing programs (including mechanical and chemical recycling); - Reducing the use of hazardous substances. - To minimize the environmental impact of PVC wherever possible. - To contribute on behalf of the sector to open communication about the sustainability of PVC. How does the Stuurgroep PVC & Ketenbeheer want to achieve this goal? - By exchanging information and exploring potential improvements through consultations with industrial partners, governments, and societal organizations. - Initiating and supporting projects aimed at improvements in the life cycle of PVC such as waste projects and raw material improvement. For example: - Reduction of air and water pollution caused by substances like ethylene dichloride, vinyl chloride, PVC dust, and hydrocarbons in PVC production. - Complete replacement of lead stabilizers in PVC products that have already been realized. - Collection and reprocessing of PVC products during the waste phase such as piping systems, profiles, roofing, flooring, etc. - Providing information about sustainability aspects of PVC and PVC products to interested parties. - Collaborating at a European level with PVC producers, PVC additives, and PVC processors. - Contributing to initiatives at the European level.
