Spiel Associates was founded in 1963 by Norton Spiel. He has since passed the business on to his sons: Michael, Saul, and David. Our company began selling drill bits, then drilling machines, which we imported from Europe. Our line expanded and they introduced machines from manufacturers such as Polar, C.P. Bourg, and Lhermite. Over thirty years ago our company began to manufacture its own equipment, starting with the Sterling® Punchmaster: The paragon of automatic paper punching machines. Soon thereafter we invented the first functioning automatic plastic coil binder: The Sterling Coilmaster®. This was followed by the first in-line automatic plastic spiral binder: The Sterling Coilmaster II plastic coil binding system, which added an automatic plastic coil forming machine. One of our most popular offering is the first automatic, table top plastic spiral binding machine: The Coilmaster Jr. And then we added an in-line conveyor turning it into an in-line plastic spiral former and spiral binder. We hold various patents on the paper punching and the plastic coil binding process. Spiel Associates then released the first automatic paper punching machine with a touch screen: The Sterling Digipunch®. Throughout all this time we have been selling the most popular perfect binder in America: The Sterling Digibinder perfect binding machines. Teaming up with a Chinese Manufacturer we have released the most affordable automatic wire binding machines in the World: The Wiremaster line of wire binders. Spiel Associates is the one of the largest independent book binding machinery distributors in North America. Our innovations have caused us to lead the field of mechanical binding.
