Our experienced team of bike enthusiasts and innovative engineers, along with world class partners, including Red Bull Advanced Technology, enable us to deliver next generation eBike drive systems, offering a new level of cycling freedom while revolutionising the concept of a conversion kit. It all started in 2020, when Dr Alastair Darwood – a serial inventor and an NHS Doctor –wanted an eBike. As an avid cyclist, Alastair already had commuter, gravel, road, and mountain bikes. As a technology enthusiast and ‘bike geek’, Alastair also wanted an eBike. However, compared with the slickness and efficient design of his normal bikes, he found eBikes to be too heavy and cumbersome. They were low value for money as well, either very expensive or with sub-par components and design for what they cost. Looking for a way to convert his bicycle into an eBike without compromising its original form, Alastair explored conversion kits. He quickly realized they weren’t the solution, as conversion kits made bikes bulky and unattractive, losing the sleekness of a regular bicycle. This led to the creation of Skarper’s eBike Drive System, a simple, detachable, flexible and lightweight motor and battery unit that easily clicks onto your bike – when you want it – and clicks-off when you want your normal bike again.
