The sale of e-cigarettes (vapes) has significantly increased in Switzerland in recent years. On average, 10 million vapes are imported into Switzerland each year. Most end up in regular waste rather than recycling, despite the fact that e-cigarettes are electrical devices and must be disposed of properly. This is because e-cigarettes contain many valuable materials that belong back in the recycling loop. At the same time, they are also flammable and contain heavy metals that can harm the environment. SENS eRecycling has therefore launched an industry solution for the environmentally friendly disposal of e-cigarettes in collaboration with the main importers and retailers. Empty vapes can be disposed of correctly and free of charge at all vape retail shops, collection points, or via post with the vape recycling bag.
