Hi, I am Riz , Welcome to my world of teeth & dentistry.. Let me tell you a story: Our water bill has grown steadily over the past few months. Aware of the ongoing inflation situation in the UK, my husband and I hadn’t given it much thought. Nevertheless, following advice from a close friend, we switched our water company to Hive. One of Hive’s key features is that it can identify leaks, and a leak was found in the cistern of our toilet. Although seemingly small, the leak was costing us an extra 30 pounds ($38) per month, not to mention the water wastage! LESSON LEARNED. I am sure many of you have had similar experiences across one context or another. The message: Our lack of knowledge often leads to unexpected expenses! As a dentist with 22 years of experience, I know that PREVENTION IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN TREATMENT. And yet, day after day, I see preventable problems that require extensive treatment, even for children! Prevention is our priority Your oral health, including the well-being of your teeth, gums, bone, and enamel, is of utmost importance to us as dental professionals. Our goal is to minimize the need for extensive procedures by emphasizing preventive measures and providing guidance to help preserve your natural teeth. However, our primary challenge lies in managing dental chair time efficiently, coupled with a lack of emphasis on dental education among the general public. While dental hygienists and dentists possess a wealth of knowledge they are eager to impart to their patients, the limited time available for each dental appointment often prioritizes treatment over education, especially given the high hourly rates prevalent in the profession. I often share this advice with my younger patients: "Take my suggestion for prevention and put money aside for your own vacation, or don't, and put money down for mine!" Watching them take my advice seriously after our little pep talk is so rewarding! I maintain a policy of honesty with my patients, readily addressing areas where improvement is needed, such as inadequate brushing habits or poor dietary habits and smoking. Rest assured, my interventions are solely aimed at supporting your oral health and overall well-being.
