Ford patents battery fire retardant: Coating Releases Water as Temperature Rises
According to information from the State Intellectual Property Office, Ford Global Technologies, LLC has applied for a patent named "Battery Flame Retardant", publication number CN121440041A, and the application date is July 2025. A battery flame retardant is provided. A battery cell is proposed. The battery cell has: a negative electrode; a positive electrode; and a separator, the separator being positioned between the electrodes. The separator includes a hydrocore endothermic responsive organophosphate ceramic coating, the hydrocore endothermic responsive organophosphate ceramic coating being configured to release water as the temperature within the battery cell increases.

The State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China have jointly approved the "Safety Technical Requirements for Automobile Door Handles" (GB48001-2026), which will come into effect on January 1, 2027. The standard mandates that exterior door handles must be equipped with a mechanical release device, interior door handles must enable independent mechanical operation, and exterior door handles must withstand a pulling force of 500 Newtons. Interior door handles must withstand different pulling forces depending on their type, and their installation position must comply with ergonomic principles.
