Preparation before installing wall panels:
1. Requirements for the wall surface: before installing wall panels, the wall surface must be cleaned and leveled. When using battens for installation, the battens can adjust the flatness of the wall. If no battens are used, the wall needs to be leveled. It is recommended to use 1 cm thick wooden strip battens for installation, which is convenient for nailing and achieves the best three-dimensional effect.
2. Different wall types require different screws: for non-tiled walls, pneumatic or air nails can be used to fix battens or wall panels. When using plastic expansion screws to fix battens, the plastic expansion screws must be made of galvanized or stainless steel material to ensure they do not rust. Wall panels can be fixed with shooting nails or self-tapping screws.
Installation of wall panels - Batten method
1. Ensure the new wall surface is flat, and clean the surface of old walls. Battens can be selected as 1 cm thick wooden strips or ecological wood waterproof battens (for humid areas).
2. Mark the height and draw lines to determine the installation height.
3. Measure dimensions and cut the battens, strips, and panels (custom panels do not need cutting).
4. Pre-lay the panels, choosing the front and back (there are width differences on the front and back of custom panels).
5. Install the battens: drill holes (for expansion pipe installation method, generally drill a hole every 400-500mm).
6. If conditions allow, air cement steel nails can be directly used to nail the battens: for a wall panel 1 meter high, generally three battens are installed at the top, middle, and bottom,
higher requirements can install four battens to avoid hollow feeling.
7. Install the wall panels (generally using 20mm self-tapping screws at the upper and lower ends, the middle can be fixed with no-nail glue or glass glue).
8. Pre-apply no-nail glue (recommended Henkel brand no-nail glue or glass glue, with no formaldehyde release).
9. Fix the wall panels with self-tapping screws (positioned 1.5-2 cm from the top), ensuring one screw at the top and bottom of each wall panel.
10. Handling of outlet holes: for the cover plate of the type shown below, a batten can be installed above and below the hole; the length should be slightly wider than the hole, and the wall skirt panel at the hole position can be fixed with glue. Alternatively, a shooting nail can be used at the joint, and the cover plate can be attached with long screws to the junction box or screwed to the wall panel (when screwing onto the wall panel, a smaller hole should be made).
Apply no-nail glue to the waistline and skirting board, and immediately adhere them to the top and bottom of the wall skirt, pressing for a moment (no-nail glue dries relatively quickly, it is recommended to press for 5 minutes); you can also nail 2-3 shooting nails every 1.5 meters apart (using pin nails to minimize nail holes), and then fill the nail holes with touch-up paint.
