Polycarbonate Sheet (also known as PC sheet, polycarbonate, solid sheet, and Cabron sheet) has gained increasing attention with the continuous development of the economy and is widely used in various industries in daily life.
(1) Light Transmission: Polycarbonate sheet has a light transmittance of up to 89%, comparable to glass in beauty. UV-coated sheets do not yellow or fog under sunlight exposure, with only a 10% loss of light transmission after ten years, while PVC can lose 15% to 20%, and fiberglass can lose 12% to 20%.
(2) Impact Resistance: The impact strength is 250-300 times that of ordinary glass and 30 times that of acrylic sheets of the same thickness. It is 2-20 times stronger than tempered glass, showing no cracks when dropped from a height of two meters with a hammer weighing less than 3 kg, earning it the reputation of "shatterproof glass" and "sound steel."
(3) UV Protection: One side of the PC sheet is co-extruded with a UV-resistant coating, while the other side features an anti-condensation treatment, combining UV resistance, thermal insulation, and anti-fogging functions. It can block ultraviolet rays, making it suitable for protecting valuable artworks and exhibits from UV damage.
(4) Lightweight: Its specific gravity is only half that of glass, saving costs in transportation, handling, installation, and support frames.
(5) Flame Retardant: According to national standard GB50222—95, polycarbonate sheet is classified as flame retardant level B1. The ignition point of PC sheet is 580°C, it self-extinguishes after the flame is removed, and it does not produce toxic gases when burned, nor does it promote the spread of fire.
(6) Flexibility: It can be cold-bent on-site according to design drawings to create arched, semi-circular roofs and windows. The minimum bending radius is 175 times the thickness of the sheet, and it can also be hot-bent.
(7) Sound Insulation: Polycarbonate sheet has significant sound insulation properties, with better sound insulation compared to glass and acrylic sheets of the same thickness. Under the same thickness conditions, the sound insulation performance of polycarbonate sheet is improved by 5-9 dB compared to glass. It is internationally recognized as a material for highway sound barriers.
(8) Energy Efficiency: It keeps cool in summer and retains heat in winter. Polycarbonate sheet has a lower thermal conductivity (K value) than ordinary glass and other plastics, with insulation effects 7%-25% better than equivalent glass, achieving thermal insulation up to 49%. This significantly reduces heat loss, making it an eco-friendly material for buildings with heating systems.
(9) Temperature Adaptability: The PC sheet does not become brittle at -40°C and does not soften at 125°C, maintaining its mechanical and physical properties without significant changes in harsh environments.
