Applications of Sealing Tape:
Sealing of various enamel-lined, glass-lined, plastic-lined, rubber-lined, graphite-lined, stainless steel, titanium steel towers, heat exchangers, reactors and other flange surfaces.
Flange surface sealing of various pipes and pipe fittings.
Sealing of flange surfaces of large-diameter equipment with poor surface finish, large uneven areas, irregular shapes, and insufficient or excessive tightening force of bolts.
Sealing of strong corrosive media and fluids that must not be contaminated.
Advantages of Expanded PTFE Sealing Tape:
Outstanding sealing performance. The sealing tape has high compressibility, easily fills voids and grooves on the sealing surface, blocks interface leaks, and has the characteristic of rebounding and expanding under tension. Therefore, the higher the internal media pressure, the greater the sealing force, making the sealing tape magically effective.
Convenient and fast to use. Cut a length of expanded PTFE sealing tape as needed, cross the ends to form a seal ring of any size or shape. The adhesive tape attached to one side of the sealing tape can secure it to the equipment sealing surface for easy installation. Just a small tightening force of bolts (pre-tightening force of 50Kgf/cm2) can provide a good seal.
Durable. PTFE's corrosion resistance, non-aging properties, and the special processing of the sealing tape give it good creep resistance and long-term safe use within a wide temperature range.
Clean. The expanded PTFE sealing tape is a white PTFE product that is not corroded or aged, so it does not contaminate the fluid it comes into contact with.
Economical. The various specifications of pre-formed gaskets require manual cutting or stamping, resulting in material and labor costs. In contrast, the sealing tape only needs the ends to be crossed to form a seal ring of a specific size, eliminating waste. A few types of sealing tape can meet daily needs, saving the expensive cost of stocking various sizes of pre-formed gaskets. The expanded PTFE sealing tape can fill irregular sealing surfaces, reduce the processing precision of sealing surfaces, and revitalize parts and equipment that have rusted, abraded, or worn on sealing surfaces. Additionally, its long service life and reduced maintenance frequency make it economically viable.
Usage:
Clean and dry the sealing surface, select a width of expanded PTFE sealing tape, peel off the adhesive tape backing paper, press the sealing tape on the outer edge of the sealing surface, cross the ends at a bolt position, leaving at least 2cm beyond the crossing point. (Note: When using on a flat flange, the ends must be crossed. When using on a gasket flange, they can be stacked parallel with at least 2cm overlap.) Close the corresponding sealing surface, tighten all bolts evenly, the crossing point will be pressed to the same thickness as other parts, and there will be no leaks at the crossing point.
