Northwest Rubber and Plastic Research and Design Institute Co., Ltd., formerly known as Northwest Rubber and Plastic Research and Design Institute, was established in 1965 by the state as a specialized research unit for rubber sealing products. It develops and produces various high-tech rubber sealing products, special rubber products, and specialized materials primarily to meet the needs of key national projects involving aviation, aerospace, ships, power, tunnel engineering, coal mining, and other fields. Currently under China National Chemical Corporation, it is a central enterprise in Shaanxi Province. The National Rubber Sealing Products Quality Supervision and Inspection Center and Laboratory, the National Special Rubber Products Information Center Station, and the National Rubber Sealing Products Standardization Technical Committee are all located within this institute. It has passed GB/T19001-2008, GJB9001B-2009, and AS9100C quality system certifications and possesses independent import and export rights. The institute has undertaken key national project support programs from the "Six Five" Plan to the "Twelfth Five Year" Plan and the "863" program, supplying rubber sealing products to Chinese artificial satellites, carrier rockets, Shenzhou series manned spacecraft, Chang'e lunar exploration projects, Tiangong-1, aviation, spaceflight, and shipping sectors. It has received multiple honors and awards from national departments such as the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Defense Science and Technology Industry Administration. It has achieved numerous national and provincial scientific and technological achievements, prizes, and invention patents. The institute boasts strong scientific and technological capabilities with domestic leading-edge technology, comprehensive equipment and instruments for scientific research and production, and strong capabilities in the development and production of rubber sealing products. Its main products include various special rubber sealing rings, sealing strips, sealing profiles, anti-corrosion linings, rubber-plastic products, mold design, manufacturing, etc. It currently has the capacity to produce nearly 10,000 tons of mixed rubber and granules annually, 1200 tons of various rubber materials, pipes, and profiles, and 60 million rubber and plastic sealing parts per year.
