PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is commonly known as the "king of plastics," F4, or Teflon. It is made from suspension polytetrafluoroethylene resin through compression molding, and can be processed into sheets, turned films, and pipes. It can also be molded by pressing and extrusion. It can be combined with graphite and other materials to create plates, rods, packing, ropes, and tape.
Properties
It has a very wide operating temperature range (from -180 degrees Celsius to +250 degrees Celsius).
It is basically resistant to all chemicals except for some fluorides and alkaline metal liquids.
It exhibits excellent mechanical properties, including aging resistance, especially in bending and swinging applications.
It has outstanding flame retardancy (compliant with ASTM-D635 and D470 testing procedures, classified as a flame-retardant material in air).
It possesses excellent insulation properties (regardless of frequency and temperature).
It has extremely low water absorption and a series of unique properties such as self-lubrication and non-stickiness.
Disadvantages: high expansion rate, low mechanical strength, wear resistance, and creep resistance, but adding bronze powder can significantly increase wear resistance.
Applications include seals/gaskets, rings, wear plates/seats, electrical insulation parts, anti-corrosion industries, mechanical components, linings, and oil and gas producers.
