About Us
As an important foreign-invested enterprise in China's chemical industry, BASF primarily operates production bases in Shanghai, Nanjing, and Chongqing, with the Shanghai Innovation Park serving as a global and Asia-Pacific R&D hub.
In 2022, BASF's sales to customers in Greater China amounted to approximately 11.6 billion euros, with a workforce of 11,411 employees by year-end. Currently, Greater China is BASF's second-largest market globally, trailing only the United States.
BASF currently has 26 major wholly-owned subsidiaries, 10 major joint ventures, and 23 sales offices in Greater China. The company’s business in the region encompasses petrochemicals, intermediates, performance materials, monomers, dispersions and resins, performance chemicals, catalysts, coatings, care chemicals, nutrition and health, and agricultural solutions.
These chemical products are used across virtually all areas of daily life: from housing, automobiles, food, crops, medicine, textiles, sportswear, home goods, electronic devices to packaging, among others. To date, BASF has invested more than 8 billion euros in Greater China (over 11 billion euros together with partners), establishing a competitive local network for production, marketing, sales, technical services, and innovation.
