ETFE is the strongest fluoroplastic, achieving a good balance of various mechanical properties—extremely high tear resistance, high tensile strength, medium hardness, excellent impact resistance, and long stretch life. ETFE is a good dielectric material, with high insulation strength, a dielectric constant of 2.6, high resistivity, and a low dissipation factor of only 0.003. Its low dielectric constant remains essentially constant under varying frequency and temperature conditions. The practical operating temperature range of ETFE is quite broad, with a constant temperature typically set between -65°C and +150°C. Even at ultra-low temperatures, it remains remarkably tough, with a brittle temperature as low as -100°C. Additionally, ETFE has passed several rigorous fire resistance tests, such as IEEE 383, and has achieved UL 94 V-0 rating. At the same time, it has stable chemical properties, strong resistance to chemical corrosion, and is resistant to strong acids, strong bases, strong oxidizers, and solvents.
