Zhuzhou Hydrogen Energy Drone Makes Its Maiden Flight! Composite Material Hydrogen Storage Cylinder Becomes New Engine for Low-Altitude Economy
Recently, the cathode-enclosed air-cooled hydrogen fuel-powered drone, jointly developed by Hunan Xinyi Intelligent Technology Development Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Xinyi Technology"), Hunan Mingyi Innovation Technology, Times New Material, and Guochuang Rail, successfully completed its test flight in the rain. This test flight also marks the first flight of a hydrogen-powered drone in Hunan Province.

The hydrogen fuel-powered drone used in this test flight is equipped with high-density composite hydrogen storage tanks, featuring safety, lightweight, and high-strength characteristics. The head of New Wing Technology stated that during the R&D process, all parties fully leveraged their technical advantages to provide vital support for the technological breakthroughs of hydrogen fuel cell-powered drones. This drone has achieved significant breakthroughs in load capacity and endurance time through the deep integration of lightweight structural design and efficient hydrogen power systems, effectively overcoming the limitations of traditional lithium battery drones, which include short endurance times and long charging cycles.
Compared to the widely used lithium battery drones, hydrogen fuel drones have core advantages such as long endurance, fast energy replenishment, and strong environmental adaptability. They can operate stably in complex weather conditions such as extreme cold and high temperatures, making them suitable for various demanding scenarios like power inspections, long-distance logistics delivery, and emergency rescue material transportation. They are expected to significantly enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of specialized operations.
The successful test flight is an important achievement of collaborative innovation between New Wing Technology and its industry chain partners, laying a technical foundation for the subsequent development of hydrogen-powered aircraft with larger payloads and longer flight durations.
