Xpeng HT Aero’s Flying Cars Enter Batch Trial Production in Huangpu, Exploring the “Guangzhou Model” for Low-Altitude Economy

21st Century Business Review 2026-03-07 16:09:18

On the same day, XPeng HT, Guangzhou Urban Construction Investment Group, and the Fifth Electronic Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology jointly launched the integrated exploration of low-altitude flight scenarios at the Guangzhou Haixinsha All-Space Intelligent Experience Center (Haixinsha Technology Island), established under the “1+1+N” model. This marks a critical leap from “production line” to “on-site flight,” officially launching the “Guangzhou Model” for the low-altitude economy.

Five aircraft rolled off the production line on the same day.

After years of R&D, Xiaopeng Huitian has finally entered the era of mass production and delivery. These days, coinciding with the National People's Congress, low-altitude economy has been positioned as a "new pillar industry," which makes us very happy. Regarding the third consecutive inclusion of low-altitude economy in the government work report of the National People's Congress, Zhao Deli, founder of Xiaopeng Huitian, feels very inspired. "Xiaopeng Huitian has already achieved the capabilities of mass production, mass test flights, and mass delivery. We believe we can contribute to China's low-altitude economy industry."

Southern Finance reporter learned that the production factory of Huitian Flying Car has a construction area of about 120,000 square meters, mainly used for the production of land aircraft flying vehicles, and is also the world's first factory to use modern assembly lines for mass production of flying cars. At full capacity, the factory can complete one flying vehicle every 30 minutes, innovatively introducing the automotive industry's assembly line into the aviation field, achieving a leap in mass production, efficiency, and quality consistency.

Li Rui, vice president of XPeng Huatian, shared his experience of selling flying cars in the UAE when interviewed by Southern Finance News. Last year, he signed a 600-unit order for the XPeng Huatian Land Carrier, totaling 1.2 billion yuan, which caused much discussion in the industry. "I had prepared 100 different communication strategies," Li admitted. To promote this new concept of flying cars, he had made sufficient preparations. However, he did not expect the local clients to be so interested in flying cars. The first question they asked was about the price. After learning that the 2 million yuan price was in RMB rather than USD, they immediately gave a positive response, and the order negotiation went very smoothly.

Notably, the participation of female pilots added a distinctive highlight to this test flight. “Once we enter this profession, whether male or female, we’re all in the same role—that makes me incredibly proud. I hope more and more women will join our pilot ranks in the future,” said pilot Chu Yuanyuan on site, extending her Women’s Day greetings.

Haixinsha Witnesses First Live Manned Flight

On the same day, at the exclusive takeoff and landing point of Haixinsha Science and Technology Island, after the land aircraft carrier completed the automatic separation process, it was piloted by Hui Tian pilots to slowly ascend into the air, flying in a loop around the Haixinsha Experience Center, completing the manned flight scenario verification. This was the first practical manned flight verification of Haixinsha Science and Technology Island as a model for low-altitude economy scenarios.

The "14th Five-Year Plan" proposal clearly put forward the cultivation of new quality productive forces and the forward-looking layout of future industries. Low-altitude economy, autonomous driving, and embodied intelligence have all been incorporated into the national strategic layout. Recently, He Xiaopeng, a National People's Congress representative and chairman and CEO of Xpeng Motors, stated that 2026 will not only be a year of continuous technological breakthroughs, but also a critical node where institutional supply and industrial scaling need to be "aligned." He hopes that scientific and technological achievements can truly leave the laboratory and become tangible realities in urban skies, on roads, and in home scenarios.
