Peripheral Vascular Device Breakthrough: Junkosha Launches High-Performance Etched PTFE Catheter Liners

Plastmatch Global Digest 2026-02-04 11:03:01

Junkosha is showcasing its latest etched PTFE catheter liners at MD&M West in Anaheim, California this week, addressing the evolving needs of the peripheral vascular market. Highlights include etched PTFE catheter liners with inner diameters up to 0.2 inches (5 mm), enabling the design of large-bore delivery systems. Junkosha is also exhibiting thin-walled etched PTFE catheter liners (with walls as thin as 0.00075 inches / 19 microns) and peelable heat shrink tubing at booth 1867 in the Anaheim Convention Center.

More than 70 years of fluoropolymer technology accumulation empowers the new etched PTFE liner development.

Leveraging over 70 years of fluoropolymer application technology, Junkosha's newly expanded etched PTFE liner tubing product line is fully adaptable to the application needs of interventional devices for treating vascular stenosis and occlusive lesions, covering various procedures such as drug-coated balloon angioplasty, stent and stent-graft placement, thrombectomy, and atherectomy. Junkosha stated that these procedures are widely used in the treatment of Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) and Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), and that the reliability and precise delivery of interventional devices are critical to clinical efficacy in current emergency and elective surgeries, which is also driving the accelerated adoption of related high-performance devices.

Yohei Washiyama, PTFE Liner Product Specialist at Junkosha, stated, "Etched PTFE liners are a core component of interventional delivery systems, enabling smooth device delivery and ensuring the safe and predictable deployment of stents and covered stents in complex vascular anatomies. Our expansion of the liner inner diameter to 5mm is primarily aimed at supporting device manufacturers in developing delivery systems suitable for large vessels, while maintaining product mechanical performance and process consistency."

In addition to large-sized etched PTFE liners, Junkosha's thin-walled etched PTFE liners further expand product applications: they can provide a larger lumen inner diameter for catheter design or enable the miniaturization of the overall outer diameter of the catheter, offering greater flexibility for the design of multi-lumen catheters and other complex interventional devices.
