On the same day, Trump publicly declared that the United States would "manage" Venezuela and announced that major U.S. oil companies would enter Venezuela, investing billions of dollars to "repair" oil infrastructure and generate profits.

Teijin Limited launches a proof-of-concept project for traceability of recycled polycarbonate materials.
Teijin Ltd. has launched a demonstration application project utilizing the Digital Product Passport (DPP) technology from Circularise B.V., a company based in The Hague, Netherlands. The aim is to achieve traceable management of recycled polycarbonate (PC) resin throughout the supply chain. Through this project, Teijin will verify the feasibility of using the Digital Product Passport to meet compliance requirements of the proposed EU End-of-Life Vehicles Directive.
The core objective of the digital product passport is to provide material procurement companies with conveniently accessible and comprehensive data, including material sources, composition, environmental impact, and disposal recommendations. In this proof of concept, Teijin selected two types of raw materials: one is recycled polycarbonate resin sourced from recovered car headlights, and the other is the Panlite CM series of environmentally friendly composite materials under its umbrella, which are composed of a blend of recycled polycarbonate resin and virgin polycarbonate resin. With the help of the digital product passport, customers can accurately verify whether the materials are sourced from scrapped vehicles, the proportion of recycled content, and various physical performance parameters of the materials.

Japan plans to formulate a circular textile action plan by March.
Japan plans to reduce clothing waste by 25% by the fiscal year 2030, using the level 10 years earlier as a baseline, in order to address the environmental impact of carbon-intensive clothing production. According to UNEP, clothing accounts for 10% of global carbon emissions.
The Japanese government will formulate a new action plan in March this year to more broadly promote the reuse and recycling of clothing. It will also urge local governments, businesses, and residents to work together to reduce textile waste. According to a report by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment, 820,000 tons of new clothes were sold in the Japanese market in 2024, most of which were imported. However, the quantity of clothing collected by second-hand stores and recycling services is limited, with an estimated 560,000 tons of clothing being incinerated or landfilled, 90% of which comes from the residential sector.

Indonesia shoe factory requests 0% tariff on the United States.
Recently, according to reports from multiple media outlets, Indonesian footwear industry insiders believe that the 19% reciprocal export tariff imposed by the United States is still too high. The Indonesian Footwear Association (APIRINDO) is urging the government to reduce the tariff to 0%, or at least to a level significantly lower than that of their competitors.
APRISINDO Executive Director Yoseph Billie Dosiwoda stated that the measures taken by the government led by President Prabowo Subianto and the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs are commendable, but the fight for labor-intensive industries must never cease.
There are reports that the reciprocal tariff agreement between Indonesia and the United States is nearing completion, but it is said that the zero-tariff scheme only applies to tropical resource-based goods. Meanwhile, labor-intensive manufacturing industries still face relatively high tariffs.
