Leistritz Deploys Three Production Lines in Finland, Boosting Plastic Waste Production Capacity by 50%

Plastmatch Global Digest 2026-01-22 09:58:37

German compounding equipment leader Leistritz is supplying three tandem extrusion lines to Finnish recycling leader Syklo, which will significantly improve the efficiency of recycling post-consumer HDPE, PP, and LDPE plastics, boosting Finland's plastic recycling capacity by up to 50%. Leistritz, in deep collaboration with technology partner NGR – Next Generation Recyclingmaschinen GmbH, has created this cutting-edge production system, setting new industry benchmarks in energy efficiency and recycled material quality.

In Finland's brand-new circular economy industrial center in Hyvinkää, these three recycling extrusion lines are dedicated to processing mixed post-consumer plastic waste from domestic and commercial sources. At the core of each production line is a Coperion ZSE twin-screw extruder equipped with Maxx technology. Paired with NGR's C:Gran cutting-compaction-extrusion integrated solution, the material is first compacted and homogenized, and then compounded and refined by Coperion's twin-screw technology.

The integration of the RheoStream in-line rheometer ensures high-quality melt and process stability, even with fluctuating raw material compositions, consistently producing high-quality recycled materials.

This secondary compounding stage is particularly crucial: precise additive dosing enables the production of high-quality recycled materials (such as polyolefin films) suitable for high-end plastic products; concurrently, a high-performance devolatilization system effectively removes volatile impurities, meeting the stringent requirements of high-purity applications.

Professional Technical Empowerment for Circular Economy Development

This project stands as a prime example of practicing a sustainable future: relying on this equipment, high-quality recycled materials with stable mechanical properties can be produced, precisely matching the application needs of the plastic recycling industry.

The integrated application of recycling processes and compounding technologies proves that even with highly variable quality waste plastics, high-end recycled materials can be mass-produced. These materials can ultimately meet the stringent standards for purity and mechanical stability required by products such as polyolefin films and high-end injection molded parts.
