Double-Digit Decline Is Now Consensus: IDC Projects 11.3% Drop in PC Shipments in 2026
IT HomeMarch 13th report, similar to the conclusions given by other research institutions,IDC also stated in its news release on U.S. time on the 12th that the PC market shipment volume will decline by more than 10% in 2026.Specifically, International Data Corporation (IDC) reported a figure of -11.3% and also forecast a 7.6% decline in tablet shipments this year.
IDC stated that the decline in PC and tablet shipments resulted from a combination of factors, including memory shortages, rising component prices, and broader supply constraints. These negative factors will persist until 2027., curbing the momentum of recovery. Moreover, the recent geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East have cast another shadow over the already bleak market prospects.
However, although PC and tablet shipments will decline significantly,The total market size is expected to grow by 1.6% and 3.9% this year, respectively. In other words, the ASP (Average Selling Price) will see a significant increase.

Jitesh Ubrani, Research Manager at IDC Worldwide Mobile Device Tracker, stated:
With the increase in average selling price and component costs, the balance of market power is shifting. The era of cheap personal computers and tablets has come to a temporary end.。
The shortage of memory will last until 2027. Although we expect prices to start falling from 2028,The market is unlikely to recover to the 2025 price level. On the contrary, we expect a new normal to emerge: structurally higher average selling prices and correspondingly slower long-term demand growth.
