Covestro Signs TPU Film Fusion Printed Electronics Agreement

DT New Materials 2026-05-25 13:58:49

Recently, Covestro signed a cooperation memorandum with Jiangsu Denoshu Electronics Co., Ltd. The two parties will collaborate on joint research and development and industrialization of ultra-flexible printed electronic tactile interaction systems, jointly promoting the large-scale application of this cutting-edge technology in the automotive interior field.

According to the memorandum, Covestro will lead the research, development, and industrialization of related thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) film substrates. TPU films offer outstanding flexibility, durability, processing adaptability, ink adhesion, and long-term stability, making them an indispensable core substrate for ultra-flexible printed electronic systems. Denoshu will lead the research, development, and industrialization of haptic interaction assembly systems. The two parties will complement each other’s strengths and jointly build a full-chain collaborative system from materials to systems.

This collaboration will focus on core interior application scenarios such as the center console, steering wheel, door panels, seats, and headliner, with the goal of integrating body sensing, posture adaptation, temperature regulation, health monitoring, and touch interaction response into one system. While enhancing ride comfort, it will also comprehensively empower the intelligent upgrade of the cockpit. In addition, both parties plan to jointly participate in the formulation of relevant industry standards, providing strong support for the commercialization and large-scale adoption of ultra-flexible tactile technology.

According to the information, Denoshu Electronics is a global technology company specializing in ultra-flexible and soft printed electronic haptic interactive automotive interior systems. Headquartered in Germany, with its Asia headquarters in Wuxi, China, the company is a young innovative technology enterprise that has achieved an average annual sales growth rate of 300% over the past two years.

The company’s self-developed Adaptive Interactive Circuit (AIC) technology, based on adaptive thin-film interactive circuits, is a next-generation solution for interior comfort and control systems in L3/L4 autonomous driving. It enables vehicles to achieve an interaction upgrade from “recognize → analyze → understand you,” adding a third sense beyond vision and hearing.

Let the interior of cars return to "touch" and allow embodied robots to have "touch". The company's AIC technology also provides a complete tactile solution in the fields of embodied robots, electronic skin, and consumer electronics, enabling printed circuits to be applied to any surface without limitations. At the same time, the comfort functional layer has achieved a breakthrough in energy consumption, with over 30% lower energy consumption compared to traditional technologies.
