Audi A6L Available for Just $42,000 — Cheaper Than A4L, Shaking Up the Luxury Car Market
Starting at 323,000 yuan, this is not the Audi A4L, but its "older brother," the Audi A6L.
On March 10, FAW-Audi announced the pre-sale launch of the all-new Audi A6L, with a starting price of RMB 323,000—lower than the official list price of the Audi A4L’s second-highest trim. With this move, Audi has dramatically disrupted the premium car market right at the start of the year.
You can buy an Audi A6L for as little as 300,000 RMB.
Buying an Audi A6L for 300,000 RMB was unimaginable in the past, but it has now become a reality.

The all-new Audi A6L has a pre-sale price range of RMB 323,000–436,000, compared to the current model’s official retail price range of RMB 427,900–528,900. In other words, the starting price of the all-new Audi A6L is slashed by over RMB 100,000 compared to the current model.
According to convention, the official starting price is usually lower than the pre-sale price, which means the official starting price of the new Audi A6L may approach 300,000 yuan. In the past, 300,000 yuan was only enough to buy an Audi A4L.
The current official list price of the second-highest trim level of the Audi A4L on sale is RMB 329,800, meaning the pre-sale starting price of the all-new Audi A6L is already lower than that of the second-highest trim level of the Audi A4L.

Although the price has been reduced, the all-new Audi A6L still comes with a full range of features, including a front passenger entertainment screen, B&O sound system, and a smart panoramic sunroof. Among these, the top-of-the-line model is equipped with a 3.0T V6 engine, boasting a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.6 seconds. Such a configuration would have cost over 500,000 RMB in the past.
A Class C luxury sedan is priced at just 300,000 RMB—Audi has truly flipped the table.
Selling 15,000 units per month still requires a big price cut
The new Audi A6L has slashed its price by 100,000 yuan—a truly unexpected move, especially considering the A6L is far from being a niche model.
Public data shows that the Audi A6L has achieved monthly sales exceeding 15,000 units on multiple occasions over the past six months, with December last year nearing 20,000 units—holding its own against the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series.

However, the C-segment sedan market is not easy to compete in. Previously, the Xiaomi SU7 created a sales miracle, and the new model is about to be launched, which has made the existing players in the C-segment sedan market take precautions in advance.
In addition, apart from the Xiaomi SU7, Chinese brands have also launched C-segment sedans, including the Zeekr 001, XPeng P7+, and Hexie S9. These models are increasingly competitive in terms of electrification and intelligence, undoubtedly putting pressure on BBA.

The significant price drop on the all-new Audi A6L is precisely a reflection of Audi's sense of urgency amid stability. After all, no one can guarantee perpetual success in the auto market. As long as they can sell cars, the image and prestige of a luxury brand mean nothing.
This, however, puts pressure on the Audi A5L and Audi A4L. It’s still worth holding onto that dream—maybe one day, you’ll be able to buy an Audi B-segment sedan for under 200,000 RMB.
