Develop injection molding materials
The core of this agreement is the development of materials for injection molding, a key technology in industrial production and the most advanced manufacturing platform, including 3D printing based on pellets and filaments.
The goal of this collaboration is to develop future-oriented materials that combine tailored engineering properties with integrated smart functionalities, such as self-healing behavior, energy absorption, EMI shielding, and electrical conductivity.
These functionalities will be realized through advanced composite structures reinforced with carbon fiber, nanofillers, and graphene, enabling researchers to explore optimized mechanical properties and enhanced design flexibility for the development of innovative, high-performance applications in engineering-intensive fields such as aerospace, defense, and energy.
Fabio Azzolin, CEO of Xenia Materials, stated that this partnership represents a concrete step toward industry-oriented research, combining scientific knowledge with processing capabilities to accelerate the development of cutting-edge material solutions. This shared pathway aims to create new composites designed to anticipate the technological and application-driven challenges of the coming years.
Pietro Russo, Materials Engineer and Senior Researcher at IPCB-CNR, stated that the agreement represents a strategic step toward leveraging the institute’s scientific expertise in specific industrial settings. “Collaboration with Xenia Materials will enable us to develop advanced engineering materials that are specifically optimized, accelerating technology transfer and the impact of research on manufacturing processes.”
Through this agreement, Xenia Materials and IPCB-CNR reaffirm the strategic value of collaboration between the private sector and public research as a driver of innovation, competitiveness, and technological progress, laying the foundation for future materials.
