[Weekly Recycled ABS Plant Updates] Insufficient Waste Electronics Feedstock Supply, Multiple Plants Undergoing Concentrated Maintenance

This week, the operating rate of the recycled ABS industry was 38.9%, down 2.7 percentage points from the previous week, as shortages of feedstock from dismantled waste household appliances combined with concentrated maintenance weighed on overall output.

East China core maintenance: Wuxi’s 110,000 t/y electronic-grade recycled ABS unit shut down for a 14-day major overhaul on July 8, with output losses of 1,890 tons this week; Ningbo’s 70,000 t/y black recycled ABS line experienced an extruder equipment failure and was taken offline for maintenance for 3 days on July 13, leaving short-term spot supply of black recycled ABS in East China tight. Regional operating rates show marked divergence: in South China, Guangdong has ample inventory of waste appliance feedstock, and leading recycled ABS producers are maintaining 55%–60% operating rates, with stable orders from new-energy casing applications supporting production schedules; in North China and Shandong, small and mid-sized producers are facing difficulties procuring raw materials and are generally running at low loads of 30%–40%. Overseas and new capacity: Malaysia’s 80,000 t/y PCR recycled ABS unit has seen its operating rate drop to 40% due to a reduction in import quotas for waste electronic feedstock, and exports to China fell 22% month on month; a 65,000 t/y high-impact recycled ABS line in Changzhou, Jiangsu has completed trial runs and is scheduled to officially start up next month.

This week, the total industry maintenance capacity is 310,000 tons, with a weekly capacity loss of 3,620 tons. Downstream home appliances and 3C terminal purchases are sluggish, leading companies to actively reduce production. There are no concentrated restarts of facilities planned for next week.
