Wanhua Chemical's 650,000 Ton MDI/TDI Production Capacity Set To Be Shut Down!
Recently, Wanhua Chemical released an official announcement regarding its important overseas subsidiary.BorsodChemThe integrated unit will initiate its annual maintenance plan.
According to the announcement, Baoside.The 400,000 t/year MDI and 250,000 t/year TDI production units and supporting facilities will be gradually shut down for maintenance starting July 17, with the maintenance expected to last about 35 days.This maintenance is part of the company's annual planned routine maintenance.
As a core isocyanate production base in Europe, BorsodChem is a key local supplier of MDI and TDI in the region. During the plant shutdown period, the circulation of MDI and TDI commodities in Europe will decrease in stages, easing spot supply pressure in the region.
From the perspective of the global supply landscape, multiple overseas plants are currently experiencing ongoing operating disruptions: Sadara’s 600,000-ton MDI and TDI units in Saudi Arabia have been shut down for an extended period, while the restart of related facilities in Iran remains far off. As a result, supply-side uncertainties for MDI and TDI continue to increase in the third quarter.
Reviewing the market trends in the first half of the year, MDI and TDI prices experienced significant fluctuations, and market sentiment remained cautious. The news of major overseas manufacturers conducting maintenance is expected to provide some support for raw material prices in the supply chain.
