Wanhua Chemical Subsidiary BorsodChem's 650,000-Ton MDI/TDI Production Facility To Shut Down For Maintenance
On the afternoon of July 14, Wanhua Chemical issued an official announcement, and its important overseas subsidiary...BorsodChem, HungaryThe integrated device will initiate the annual maintenance plan.
According to the announcement, Baosed.The 400,000 tpa MDI and 250,000 tpa TDI production units, along with supporting facilities, will be shut down for maintenance in phases starting from July 17, with the maintenance expected to last around 35 days.This maintenance is part of the enterprise’s annual planned routine maintenance.
BorsodChem, as a core isocyanate production base in Europe, is a key local supplier of MDI and TDI in the region. During the plant shutdown period, the circulation volume of MDI and TDI commodities in Europe will decline temporarily, easing the pressure on spot supply within the region.
From a global supply landscape perspective, multiple overseas plants are currently experiencing ongoing operating disruptions: Saudi Arabia’s Sadara 600,000-ton MDI and TDI facilities have been shut down for an extended period, the restart of related plants in Iran remains uncertain, and supply-side variables for MDI and TDI are continuing to increase in the third quarter.
Reviewing the market trends in the first half of the year, MDI and TDI prices experienced a round of significant fluctuations, with a strong wait-and-see sentiment in the market. The recent announcement of concentrated maintenance by major overseas producers is expected to provide some support for raw material prices across the industrial chain.
