Volkswagen Raises Tiguan Prices Again In United States (US)
According to foreign media reports, Volkswagen's American division has raised the starting price of the 2026 Tiguan. Just a few months ago, the company had already increased the pricing for the redesigned 2025 Tiguan compact crossover.

The Tiguan has always been a best-selling model for Volkswagen in the U.S. market, produced in Mexico along with the Jetta compact sedan and Taos small crossover SUV. According to the new U.S. tariff policy, Volkswagen must pay a 25% tariff on the value of non-U.S.-made parts for the Tiguan.
Volkswagen stated that the front-wheel-drive base model Tiguan S currently starts at a price of $32,280 in the United States, which is an increase of $610 or 1.9% compared to the 2025 model. It is reported that all prices include shipping.
The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan has undergone a major redesign and went on sale in May this year. In mid-July, Volkswagen raised the price of the 2025 Tiguan, which previously had a starting price of $30,920.
Compared to the initial starting price of the 2025 model announced in March of this year, the starting price of the 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan has increased by 4.4%.
Volkswagen stated that, except for the top model, the configuration of the 2026 Tiguan remains largely the same as the previous generation, with only an upgrade to the travel assist system, which now includes an active lane change feature for the driver.
The 2026 models with the same price increase of $610 include the all-wheel drive Tiguan S, the front-wheel drive Tiguan SE, and the all-wheel drive Tiguan SE.
The price of the Tiguan SE R-Line FWD has increased by $1,090, a rise of 2.9%, bringing it to $38,720. Similarly, the price of the Tiguan SE R-Line AWD has also increased by $1,090, a rise of 2.8%, bringing it to $40,220.
In March of this year, the starting price for the front-wheel-drive Tiguan SE R-Line was $36,880, while the starting price for the all-wheel-drive Tiguan SE R-Line was $38,380.
The starting price for the all-new top-tier model Tiguan SEL R-Line Turbo is $44,560. This model replaces the previously launched SEL R-Line (original starting price $41,930). However, the SEL R-Line Turbo is equipped with a more powerful engine, offering an increase of 67 horsepower compared to the previous model.
Petar Danilovic, Senior Vice President of Product Marketing and Strategy at Volkswagen Group of America, pointed out that it is not uncommon to raise prices when launching a new model. Petar Danilovic stated, "Like all other brands, we pay attention to market dynamics and competitors' actions. We also consider the operational costs of the business. Based on this, we then determine what a 'reasonable price increase should be' and make the final decision."
In September this year, Volkswagen Group CEO Oliver Blume stated that in response to the new U.S. tariff policy, Volkswagen Group has taken strategic measures when adjusting prices in the U.S. market. "We must act cautiously and cannot pass all the losses onto consumers, nor can we do so in just one specific segment."
The Tiguan has traditionally been Volkswagen's best-selling model in the United States, but in the first half of this year, sales of the Tiguan declined due to Volkswagen clearing out old inventory and transitioning to new models. However, in the third quarter of this year, Tiguan sales in the U.S. increased by 3.9% year-on-year.
Due to the decline in sales of the Tiguan in the United States in the first half of the year, the three-row Atlas large crossover became Volkswagen's sales champion in the U.S. market during the first nine months of this year.
It is reported that the 2026 Tiguan will start arriving at dealerships across the United States during the week of October 13.
