Engel GroupRevenue for the 2026/27 fiscal year is projected to reach approximately $1.67 billion (€1.55 billion), representing a year-on-year increase of around 10%. The Austria-based injection molding machine manufacturer is planning ahead, although company leaders caution that it is too early to speak of a broad recovery in the plastics processing industry.

The strongest momentum is coming from the United States, where manufacturers are expanding local production and investing in applications ranging from data center infrastructure to automotive components. India is experiencing rapid growth, and investment decisions in Europe are once again moving forward. The healthcare sector remains a stable market for Engel globally. Even in packaging—where evolving regulations complicate planning—customers continue to invest in technologies that enhance energy efficiency and production economics. These diverse trends point to a common priority: customers seek solutions that deliver tangible returns in their day-to-day operations.

Americas: U.S. investment drives demand

Demand is growing most strongly in the United States, where customers are advancing projects that were postponed in previous years. The expansion of domestic manufacturing is also creating greenfield and brownfield opportunities. As technology takes shape, data center infrastructure requires large, highly automated systems, including enclosures and components for piping, cooling, and electrical systems. Water infrastructure offers additional opportunities, ranging from drinking water supply to wastewater and stormwater management. Home goods manufacturers serving major retail chains are also expanding their operations in North America. In the automotive sector, new vehicle programs and delayed projects are supporting investment, while some U.S. packaging customers are increasing production capacity.

Europe: Investment decisions move forward once again

In recent months, sentiment in Europe has improved, with inquiries once again leading to initial orders. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are particularly replacing old machinery and exploring production concepts to complement their existing equipment. Demand has also remained resilient in applications related to household products, construction, water infrastructure, and logistics.

The situation varies by industry. Medical applications remain strong, while the European automotive market continues to lag. Financial pressures on suppliers and cost-cutting initiatives by automakers are hindering investment. Meanwhile, Engel sees global potential for in-mold coating of exterior automotive parts as an alternative to traditional painting.

In terms of packaging, the evolving requirements under the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation make investment planning more challenging. However, processors are opting for all-electric systems that combine high output with low energy consumption. The new e-motion 380 showcased by Engel at Fakuma consumes approximately 30% less energy than comparable hybrid or hydraulic solutions.

Engel is also continuing to strengthen its presence in Europe. Its manufacturing facility in Funda, Serbia, is designed to bolster the company’s European value chain. Its partnership with French injection molding machine manufacturer Billion also provides customers with a clear path for future investments: Billion will continue to service the machines it has installed, while Engel will be the recommended supplier for new machines.

Asia: As China faces pressure, India is also growing.

Capacity expansion, local manufacturing, and infrastructure investment are supporting strong demand in India, with similar drivers creating opportunities in Africa. China presents a more challenging landscape, particularly in the automotive sector, where declining vehicle demand, intense price competition, and overcapacity are influencing investment decisions. Meanwhile, Engel sees opportunities in applications related to electronics, semiconductors, and humanoid robots—areas where customers are seeking solutions that reduce unit costs and material consumption, stabilize processes, and deliver short payback periods.

Two brands, one goal: the right solution.

At Fakuma, Engel is demonstrating how different production challenges require different solutions. The exhibits range from the basic, standardized Wintec t-win two-platen machine producing approximately 360 coat hangers per hour, to the tiebar-free Victory electric machine manufacturing large-sized LSR seals without flash or post-trimming. Engel will also showcase the integration of artificial intelligence and its applications in daily production.

Engel and Wintec jointly offer customers diverse pathways to cost-effective production—ranging from proven, standardized machines to production cells tailored for specific applications. Engel’s support extends far beyond commissioning; with over 125,000 machines installed worldwide, services such as modernization, retrofitting, and machine relocation help customers maintain long-term equipment productivity.

Engleder summarized, “Our advantage is not just the range of solutions we offer. We work with our customers to find what best meets their needs.”
