March pbat exports surge to five-year high

Longzhong 2026-04-22 19:28:34

Introduction: 3 Monthly PBAT exports reached approximately 18,300 tons, marking a five-year high. Overseas stockpiling driven by geopolitical tensions, coupled with the implementation of plastic bans and restrictions in the EU and Southeast Asia, has significantly boosted demand for biodegradable materials—sustained through April. This export growth has alleviated domestic supply pressure, supporting recent market prices in a relatively strong, range-bound pattern. Italy and India remain the core export destinations, jointly accounting for over 50% of total exports. Guangdong, Xinjiang, and Liaoning provinces contributed the majority of the export growth, leveraging their respective production capacities and logistical advantages to achieve simultaneous increases in export volume and price, resulting in a continuously improving industry export landscape.

2026 In March, China's PBAT exports amounted to 18,282.011 tons, with a monthly increase of 61.28% compared to the previous month and a year-on-year increase of 70.19%. The monthly average price was 1,307 USD per ton, up 4.76%. In the first three months of 2026, China's PBAT exports totaled 44,992.189 tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 39.97%.

3 Monthly PBAT exports have reached a near five-year high, primarily driven by geopolitical tensions that have triggered a surge in overseas stockpiling, significantly boosting order volumes. Additionally, the continued tightening of plastic bans and restrictions in regions such as the EU and Southeast Asia has increased overseas demand for biodegradable materials, further driving order fulfillment.

PBAT The expansion of export volume has effectively alleviated the supply pressure in the domestic market, while driving the PBAT price to show a strong and fluctuating trend.

2. Guangdong is the leading province for PBAT exports, accounting for over 52%.
