LYB Provides Advanced Polymers For Wearable Support Devices
LyondellBasell and exoIQ are collaborating to develop material solutions for the B900 active back exoskeleton, a wearable system designed to alleviate physical strain during demanding tasks.

LyondellBasellLYB and exoIQ are developing advanced material solutions for exoIQ’s B900 active back exoskeleton, a wearable system that supports users during physically demanding activities.
LYB leverages its advanced polymer solutions and capabilities in olefins and polyolefins to provide a comprehensive portfolio of materials for applications. Glass fiber-reinforced polyamide offers mechanical strength and dimensional stability, polypropylene supports impact resistance, processability, and lightweight design, while masterbatch solutions ensure consistent color and appearance.
Frank Noeltgen, Vice President of Advanced Polymer Solutions at LYB Europe, stated that this collaboration demonstrates the value of pooling LYB’s materials and expertise. “By working closely with exoIQ, we have delivered integrated solutions that meet the structural, performance, and design requirements of the application. This partnership reinforces our role as a trusted innovator and comprehensive solutions provider.”
Provide support during physically demanding activities.
The B900 active back exoskeleton provides support during physically demanding activities such as weightlifting, material handling, and working in forward-leaning postures. By helping to reduce physical strain and effort, this wearable solution makes it easier for workers in logistics, manufacturing, and skilled trades to manage strenuous daily tasks.
“The B900 requires materials that balance strength, durability, lightweight performance, and design,” said Bernward Otten, Founder and Managing Director of exoIQ. “The breadth of the LYB product portfolio and the team’s approach to material innovation help us identify complementary solutions for the various components of the system.”
Cross-business expertise
Through this collaboration, LYB connects cross-business expertise and translates customer needs into comprehensive material solutions to enhance the performance and design of complete applications—strengthening its position in innovations for wearable technology and exoskeleton materials.
