LG Chem to Showcase Robotics, Electrical Components and Medical Innovative Materials Solutions at CHINAPLAS 2026

From April 21 to 24, LG Chem will showcase over 90 high-value strategic products at CHINAPLAS 2026 International Rubber and Plastics Exhibition, with the theme "Chemistry That Moves Industries Forward." The company will have core exhibition areas for robotics, automotive electronics, and medical, covering a booth area of 400m².

Robotics Field

LG Chem's metallic ABS with a paint-free process provides robots with a uniform metallic luster and enables lightweight design; the high-impact and high-flexibility ultra-high polymerization PVC can be applied to internal wiring; high-refractive-index materials, with high transparency and high impact resistance, can be used for curved designs, suitable for robot eyes or optical sensor lens covers.

Meanwhile, LG Chem will also showcase material solutions aimed at enhancing battery safety, including Super Flame Barrier, an engineering plastic that delays thermal runaway, and Nexula®, an insulating material made from aerogel. SFB material rapidly transforms into a hard and tight barrier when exposed to flame, simultaneously suppressing flame spread and pressure transfer. On the other hand, aerogel, with its excellent insulation properties, effectively blocks heat diffusion within the battery, promising to significantly improve battery safety in everyday applications such as humanoid robots.

 

Electrical and Electronic Equipment Installation Field

Side mirrors and radiator grilles made with LG Chem's high-gloss, high-heat-resistant ASA exhibit minimal discoloration and degradation due to their excellent weatherability, delivering exceptional gloss and surface quality without requiring a separate painting process. Additionally, high-transparency PC suitable for daytime running lights (DRLs) enables uniform diffusion of LED light sources, providing clear brightness and outstanding visibility even in daylight conditions.

 

Medical Field

LG Chem's medical-grade ABS and PC are suitable for various components of syringe connectors and the housing of hemodialyzers. These materials not only ensure stable connections and structural protection between medical devices, but also effectively meet the biocompatibility and other regulatory standards required in medical environments involving contact with drugs and blood.

In the current context, the importance of the circular economy is becoming increasingly evident. LG Chem has introduced its ultra-thin packaging film material "UNIQABLE™," developed with proprietary technology, which maintains the same physical properties as conventional composite packaging films but is made entirely of a single PE material, significantly enhancing its recyclability.

In addition, LG Chem plans to identify customers' potential needs through activities such as distributing questionnaires to visitors, and aims to develop them into new business growth opportunities for high-value-added products.
