Following the debut of ultra-high molecular weight PVC at CHINAPLAS 2025, LG Chem has continued developing its HRTP series with multiple grades for full-scenario applications, accelerating global market partnerships. This year, LG Chem will return to CHINAPLAS 2026 with a diversified portfolio of ultra-high molecular weight PVC products, including grades HRTP4000, 2000S, 2000H, and 500S.

Next Generation Charging Cable Ideal Choice / HRTP

With the rapid development of the new energy vehicle industry, the global charging infrastructure market is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 32%. Additionally, according to the latest data released by China’s National Energy Administration, as of the end of January this year, the total number of electric vehicle charging infrastructure “guns” in China reached 20.698 million, representing a year-on-year increase of 49.6%.

Therefore, the market demand for related technologies and materials of fast charging and ultra-fast charging infrastructure has also entered a period of rapid growth. The existing charging cables mainly use TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) and TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) materials. To meet the market demand for fast and ultra-fast charging, high power tolerance, and high flexibility materials, LG Chem has developed a series of ultra-high polymerization degree PVC materials, the HRTP series.

LG Chem HRTP Product Series

HRTP stands for "Heat-resistant and Recyclable Thermal Plastic," and the numbers such as "4000" represent the polymerization degree index. The polymerization degree of common PVC is around 1000. A higher polymerization degree index means the polymer has a higher molecular weight, resulting in better physical and mechanical properties, but it also leads to reduced processability.

For this, LG Chem has launched the ultra-high polymerization degree PVC HRTP series, which not only boasts world-leading ultra-high molecular weight and excellent plasticizer absorption capacity but is also easy to recycle and reuse. With its high flexibility, high flame retardancy, and excellent mechanical and processing properties, it is suitable for a wide range of applications, including electric vehicle charging cables, high-temperature resistant wire harnesses, environmentally friendly and wear-resistant flooring, impact-resistant pipes, and automotive interior fabrics.

01 High Flexibility

The charging cable, which adopts the super highPVC HRTP4000 material, has a flexibility that is about 30% higher than that of existing materials, greatly enhancing the product's flexibility and convenience. Therefore, the HRTP series is an ideal material for flexible cables suitable for various charging interfaces. (Note: "" is directly translated as "degree of polymerization" in English, but it seems to be part of the material name "PVC HRTP4000" in this context, so it's kept as is.) Corrected version for better fluency: The charging cable, which uses the super high polymerization PVC HRTP4000 material, has a flexibility that is about 30% higher than that of existing materials, greatly enhancing the product's flexibility and convenience. Therefore, the HRTP series is an ideal material for flexible cables suitable for various charging interfaces.

High Flame Retardancy

In the direct burning performance test of HRTP4000, the flame immediately goes out once the ignition source is removed. Additionally, its limiting oxygen index reaches 26, which is higher than that of existing charging cable materials TPE and TPU. Therefore, HRTP4000 has excellent flame retardant properties, effectively preventing the spread of fire and avoiding fire accidents.

03 High Temperature Stability & Wear Resistance

This material exhibits excellent heat resistance, with a UL temperature index of 125°C. Moreover, incorporating 30% ultra-high molecular weight PVC increases wear resistance by approximately 40% compared to conventional LVT flooring, thereby significantly extending the floor’s service life.

04 Environmental Friendliness

Most PVC products are currently disposed of through landfill or incineration. Products made from HRTP series materials can be recycled and reused. After multiple processes such as sorting, separation, crushing, and cleaning, they are processed into granular recycled PVC material through a composite process. Using LG Chem's recycled PVC material enables lightweight product design while reducing carbon emissions by approximately 40%.

Strengthen global cooperation

Layout the electric vehicle charging cable market

LG Chem has signed a cooperation agreement with ELELECTRIC, a South Korean manufacturer of EV charging cables, to jointly develop eco-friendly flame-retardant cables for electric vehicles, under which LG Chem will supply ultra-high molecular weight PVC material to ELELECTRIC as they jointly target the EV charging cable market.

Grow together with the Chinese market

LG Chem has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China Judo Sheng High Polymer Technology Co., Ltd. on the development of high-performance, eco-friendly flame-retardant cables, further strengthening collaboration on the development of ultra-high polymerization degree PVC products and technologies, jointly building high-end cable products, and jointly expanding the Chinese market for eco-friendly, flame-retardant cable materials.

From April 21 to 24, LG Chem's HRTP series is back again! Models such as 4000, 2000S, 2000H, and 500S will be on display, along with new exhibits including automotive interior fabrics, industrial wear-resistant hoses, wire harness cables, high-heat-resistant wire harness tapes, and footwear.
