Focusing on Lithium Battery Separators, Star Material Pursues "A+H" Listing in Hong Kong

China Powder Network 2026-02-10 10:31:37

Recently, Shenzhen Senior Technology Material Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Senior Technology Material") submitted its prospectus to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange for the second time, intending to list on the Hong Kong Main Board. China Securities Construction Investment International is the sole sponsor. The company was listed on the A-share market in December 2016 with the stock code 300568. As of February 2, 2026, its A-share market value reached RMB 17.8 billion.

As a leading enterprise in the lithium battery separator industry in the new energy and new materials fields in China, Xingyuan Material's separator products are widely used in new energy vehicles, energy storage, digital devices, power tools, aerospace batteries, and other fields. The quality of its products has been highly recognized by domestic and international markets, and its customers include globally renowned enterprises such as LGES, Samsung SDI, CATL, BYD, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Toyota.

Xingyuan Material's nanofiber-coated separators, PI-coated separators, and aramid-coated separators all feature high temperature resistance, high strength, and fast wetting, which can effectively delay thermal runaway and provide critical and fundamental support, guarantee, and service for lithium battery safety.

In the field of rigid-skeleton membranes, Senior Technology Material has developed various types, including high-strength heat-resistant composite skeleton membranes, high-porosity skeleton membranes, and high-heat-resistance large-pore skeleton membranes. These can be utilized in the production of "rigid-flexible" polymer all-solid-state batteries, organic-inorganic composite all-solid-state batteries, and sulfide all-solid-state batteries, among others. These membranes enable high energy density and intrinsic safety in all-solid-state batteries. Furthermore, they enhance assembly efficiency and further optimize the mechanical and thermal safety of these batteries.

Xingyuan Material's rigid framework membrane, specially designed for all-solid-state batteries, has been successfully trial-produced as an electrolyte composite membrane with a thickness of only 25μm. It exhibits an ionic conductivity ≥0.5mS/cm, and achieves industry-leading tensile strength, oxidation resistance potential, and chemical stability, fully demonstrating the feasibility and necessity of rigid framework membranes in all-solid-state batteries.

Xie Yankun, R&D Director at Senior Materials, stated in an interview with China Powder Network: "Senior's rigid scaffold structure is applied in solid-state electrolyte membranes primarily to provide mechanical reinforcement, endowing the solid-state electrolyte membrane with better mechanical properties. This enables the solid-state electrolyte membrane to achieve a continuous roll-to-roll manufacturing process, enhancing its large-scale manufacturing capability. Senior's rigid scaffold structure is completely consistent with traditional electrolyte membranes in terms of interfacial compatibility, with no fundamental difference. Additionally, the rigid scaffold will have some impact on the continuity of the solid-state electrolyte membrane, leading to some loss in ionic conductivity, but it can still meet the application requirements for solid-state batteries."

Notably, in June 2025, Star Material's ASEAN base – the Malaysian factory (Phase I) project – was completed. With a total investment of nearly 5 billion RMB, it will become a "super factory" with an annual production capacity of 2 billion square meters of wet-process and coated separators. It will also become the world's largest lithium-ion battery separator and solid-state battery rigid skeleton manufacturing base.

Currently, the oxide and polymer solid electrolyte membranes developed by Xinyuan Material's R&D team are ready for mass production. In customer evaluations of semi-solid-state batteries, they exhibit excellent low-temperature performance, cycle stability, and safety, positioning them as industry leaders. The products are undergoing certification or testing with multiple clients and have been supplied in small batches to several well-known leading customers.

China Powder Network will host the 2nd Solid-State Battery Technology Exchange Conference in Hefei, Anhui on March 18, 2026. This conference will continue to uphold the principle of integrating industry, academia, and research, with a deep focus on the mass production pathways of all-solid-state batteries and the industrial application of dry electrodes. At the event, Xie Yankun, R&D Director of Shenzhen Senior Technology Material Co., Ltd., will deliver a report titled "The Path to Large-Scale Manufacturing of Rigid Skeleton Membranes for Solid-State Batteries."
