The selected initiatives include those involving plastics.Chemical recycling、Biopolymer ProductionProject to develop alternatives to fossil-based resins.

In terms of chemical recycling, SpainGreenertis TarragonaProposedCircusThe project aims to convert mixed plastic waste (primarily polyolefins) intoPyrolysis oilfor steam crackers to produce new polymers. This process combines a molten salt thermal reactor with an electrically heated reactor.

In the Netherlands,PTC AmsterdamProposed The project will slowly disintegrate. Online The system is integrated to produce petroleum for the petrochemical industry.

The other two projects focus on developing alternative materials. In Hamburg, Germany,Traceless MaterialsPlan toBeyondEstablish an industrial production facility under the project to produce natural materials with thermoplastic-like properties using agricultural residues.
The company opened its first factory in Hamburg-Harburg in May 2026, with an annual production capacity of approximately3000 tons, investment exceeds20 million eurosIts patented technology extracts from agricultural processing residues.Natural polymersand convert them into pellets, which can be processed using conventional techniques such as injection molding and extrusion. These materials areBio-based Home Composting, with potential applications mainly in packaging and disposable products.

In Finland,NG Nordic FinlandProposedEaglePilot project (as shown in the figure), which aims to capture approximately from the flue gas of waste-to-energy power plants annually10,000tons of carbon dioxide. CapturedCarbon dioxideRenewable Together will be used for the production of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) process.

Among the selected Italian projects, there is Eni's.Ravenna CCS Phase 2The project involves the development of underground carbon dioxide transportation and permanent storage infrastructure, designed with an annual capacity of up to4 million tonsThe system will be capable of receiving carbon dioxide transported by ships, railways, roads, and pipelines, connecting several industrial centers with offshore storage sites in the Adriatic Sea.

The European Commission's selection does not yet constitute final confirmation of the grant. Project promoters have been invited to begin withEuropean Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency(CINEA) will draft the grant agreement, determining the funding amount, timeline, and technical and financial objectives.

The results of this process are expected in the first quarter of 2027. The call for the Innovation Fund is scheduled forDecember 2026Hold.
