Circular Progress: Trevira® CS Eco Fabric Now Available with Permanently Flame-Retardant Fibers and Yarns from Recycled Textiles

Plastmatch Global Digest 2026-01-26 14:41:28

Global sustainable chemicals company Indorama Ventures (IVL) has made a significant step forward in achieving circularity for textiles in home and public spaces. To support fabric manufacturers in producing more sustainable versions of the well-known flame-retardant fabric Trevira CS, the company is now introducing Trevira® flame-retardant fibers and filament yarns containing 50% recycled textile materials. The first customers were introduced to this new product at the Heimtextil trade fair in Frankfurt, Germany, in mid-January.

Jesper Nielsen
Jesper Nielsen, Global Key Account Manager for flame retardant business, explains: "This innovation is the result of Indorama's joint venture with Jiaren Chemical Recycling. This renowned recycling company produces recycled polyester chips from post-consumer and industrial textile waste, which we then use to create highly modified Trevira® CS Eco fibers and yarns. Customers who use these fibers and yarns to produce fabrics can apply for the Trevira CS Eco brand label, thereby combining their commitment to the circular economy with the long-lasting flame retardant properties for which the Trevira CS brand has been known since 1980."

Indiramah announced a partnership with Jaren Chemical Recycling Company in November 2025. This strategic move demonstrates the company's ambition to play a leading role in scaling textile recycling.

The newly launched Trevira® CS FR fibers and yarns made from recycled materials are one result of this collaboration, and will create more textiles that combine resource-friendliness, comfort, and safety in the future.
