Borouge International Expands Polyolein Mechanical Recycling Capacity in Europe

Respective capacity expansions
In Niedergebra, rigid applications account for approximately 9 kt more rPO.
At Borouge International Niedergebra (formerly mtm plastics), the annual production capacity of recycled polyolefin (rPO) materials will increase by nearly 9,000 tonnes. The facility converts post-consumer mixed polyolefin waste into valuable recycled materials for a wide range of rigid applications. The additional capacity is expected to become operational in the first quarter of 2027.
In Wildon, the rPE for flexible packaging will increase by a maximum of 5 kt.
Borouge International Wildon (formerly Ecoplast) will increase its annual production of recycled polyethylene (rPE) by 5,000 tonnes. The additional capacity is expected to come online in the fourth quarter of 2027. It will support the growing demand for recycled materials, particularly for flexible packaging applications.
Over 20,000 metric tons of high-quality rPP from Bulgaria
Borouge International’s facility in Elin Pelin, Bulgaria, produces over 20,000 tonnes annually of high-quality post-consumer recycled polypropylene (rPP) grades. This facility enhances Borouge International’s European mechanical recycling portfolio and complements its capabilities in flexible PE, rigid PP, and mixed polyolefin streams.
Circular Materials for Industrial Competitiveness
Borouge International provides circular solutions to customers in Europe and other regions. In North America, it supplies premium PE film grades from its Syndigo™ plant in Indiana, USA. In Asia, Borouge International collaborates with a wide range of recycled material suppliers.
Dirk Langhammer, Senior Vice President of Borouge International Circular Solutions, said:Recycled materials are strategic resources in Europe and around the world, essential not only for meeting sustainability and regulatory requirements but also for enhancing industrial competitiveness, brand differentiation, and supply resilience.。”“Our investment in the European recycling platform enables more customers to reliably access circular polyolefin solutions, ranging from premium Borcycle™ grades to Recleo™ materials tailored for diverse applications.
Borouge International stated that these investments continue to expand circular solutions globally. The aim is to provide customers with more reliable access to recycled polyolefins and support a more competitive and resilient materials value chain.
