Avantium Produces First Batch of Furan Carboxylic Acids at Delfzijl Plant

Avantium N.V. has successfully produced the first batch of furan dicarboxylic acid (FDCA) at its flagship FDCA plant in Delfzijl, marking the world’s first commercial-scale facility for FDCA production. Following the successful commissioning of all major process units, this achievement represents a significant startup milestone for the flagship plant and paves the way for accelerated commercial sales.

This marks a significant step in validating Avantium’s proprietary FDCA technology under commercial operating conditions. The company will now focus on disciplined product qualification and operational planning to ensure its products meet customer specifications.

A successful startup and qualification process should provide commercial-scale validation for Avantium’s YXY technology to produce FDCA and PEF, and support licensing discussions with potential partners.
